You can still take JEE without meeting it.

JEE Main: you can appear in the year you take Class 12 and the two years after it, with two sessions a year, so up to six attempts. JEE Advanced: a maximum of two attempts in two consecutive years. Droppers should plan both JEE Advanced attempts from their first year.

JoSAA allots seats in IITs, IISc, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs over several rounds (five in 2026) using your JEE ranks and your ordered choices.
