University Admissions 2027: Frequently Asked Questions
Select subjects based on your target course requirements. For most DU programs: 2-3 domain subjects + Language + General Test. Don't over-select - 4-5 subjects max is manageable. Check DU bulletin for specific course eligibility before registering.
For most central universities, only CUET score matters post-qualification. You need to pass Class 12th (minimum % varies by university). However, some courses/universities still give minor weightage (10-20%) to Class 12th. Check specific university policies.
For Hindu/SRCC/Miranda House in popular courses: 750-800 out of 800 in relevant sections. For off-campus DU colleges: 650-700. Competition is intense for commerce/economics. Sciences have slightly lower cutoffs.
CUET UG registration typically opens in February-March on the NTA website (cuet.nta.nic.in). The exam is usually held in May-June across multiple days. Key steps: Register early, select subjects carefully based on target universities, download admit card 2-3 weeks before exam. Keep checking the NTA website — dates can shift. Apply to individual universities separately after CUET registration.
Yes. One CUET registration allows you to apply to all participating universities. However, each university has a separate application form and fee (₹200-500 per university). Apply to 5-8 universities for safe options across cutoff ranges.
Largely overlapping. CUET domain subjects use NCERT Class 12 syllabus. Extra focus needed for: General Test (aptitude, current affairs) and English language section. Start CUET-specific practice from March alongside boards.
Several good universities offer merit-based or own entrance admission: Christ University, Symbiosis (SET), St. Xavier's Mumbai, state universities. Private universities (LPU, Chandigarh Univ) have rolling admissions. CUET remains best bet for central/top universities.
Over 250 universities participate in CUET. Key ones: BHU (Banaras Hindu University), JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia, Hyderabad Central University, AMU, Pondicherry University, and all other central universities. Many state universities and deemed universities also joined CUET. It's no longer just a DU exam.
CUET covers virtually all undergraduate courses: BA, B.Com, B.Sc, B.Design, B.Ed, B.Voc, B.A LLB, and more. Each course has specific domain subject requirements. A student from any stream can apply to multiple course types — check each university's program eligibility before selecting domain subjects.
CUET has 3 sections: Section IA (Language — 45 minutes), Section II (Domain Subjects — 45 minutes each, up to 6 subjects), Section III (General Test — 60 minutes). All questions are MCQ-based from NCERT Class 12 syllabus. You can attempt multiple sittings across different days for different subjects within the same year.
CUET UG has typically been announced by NTA between February and March, with exams held in May–June. Central university admissions, including NCET for ITEP programmes, follow the CUET timeline. The 2028 and 2029 cycles are expected to keep the same calendar — verified dates are published here as soon as the official notification releases.
