How KCET Rank is Calculated (Official KEA Formula)

Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) uses the following merit formula for KCET rank determination:

PUC % = (PCM Total / 300) × 100
KCET % = (KCET Total / 180) × 100
Combined Merit Score = (PUC % + KCET %) ÷ 2

Candidates are then ranked in descending order of this combined merit score. In case of a tie, the student with higher KCET marks is ranked higher. Further ties are broken by PUC marks, and then by age (older candidate ranked higher).

Important Disclaimer: This rank predictor provides an estimate only, based on the official KEA 50-50 merit formula and historical 2025 data from Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), coaching institutes, and student-reported data. Actual ranks may vary due to: year-to-year difficulty changes, the number of candidates appearing, board mark normalization, and reservation policy updates. Frequently Asked Questions

To predict your KCET rank, enter your 2nd PUC PCM total (out of 300) and KCET exam score (out of 180) in the tool above. KEA calculates a combined merit score as (PUC% + KCET%) ÷ 2. Candidates are then ranked in descending order of this score among all ~3.1 lakh students who appeared.

The official KEA rank formula is:
PUC% = (PCM total / 300) × 100
KCET% = (KCET total / 180) × 100
Combined Merit Score = (PUC% + KCET%) ÷ 2

Students are ranked in descending order. Ties are broken by KCET marks, then PUC marks, then age (older ranks higher).

With 120 KCET marks (66.7%) and 97% PUC PCM, your combined score is ~81.85% giving an expected rank around 3,790. With 92.5% PUC, the rank is ~5,000. Your PUC marks have an equal 50% weightage — use the calculator above for your specific combination.

PUC PCM board marks carry 50% weightage in KCET rank calculation, equal to the KCET exam marks. A student with 95% PUC and 100 KCET marks will rank significantly higher than one with 85% PUC and 100 KCET marks. Strong board marks can compensate for a moderate KCET score.

Scroll up to the KCET Marks vs Rank 2025 reference table on this page for a quick lookup by score range. The table shows approximate rank ranges for KCET scores from 60 to 180, split by high PUC (~95%) and moderate PUC (~90%) marks. Because 50% of your rank is determined by PUC board marks, the same KCET score can yield very different ranks — use the CET rank predictor tool at the top of this page for your exact combination.

Top government colleges (UVCE, BMS): Rank under 1,000–5,000 for CSE/ECE (GM).
